JUST IN: Babalola withdraws defamation case against Farotimi
The respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Afe Babalola may have withdrawn his defamation suit against right lawyer, Dele Farotimi.
After the withdrawal of the suit, Farotimi has reacted to the development.
According to Punch, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria made the decision in the early hours of Monday.
It would be recalled that the police arrested Dele Farotimi after Afe Babalola wrote a petition accusing him of defaming him in a book titled “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System”.
However, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria has now withdrawn the case after the intervention of some top monarchs.
Reacting after the report surfaced online, Dele Farotimi stated that anything short of due process and the rule of law, imperils all.
Here is what Dele Farotimi wrote on his official X handle;
“Anything short of due process and the rule of law, (however imperfect it be) imperils all. However necessary the war against corruption might be, and I agree that it is: it is by far more corrupt and corruptive, to fight corruption corruptly”.
