SALEM UNIVERSITY’S DIGITAL/CREATIVE ARTS PROGRAM GETS BOOST

Salem University, Lokoja, Nigeria has been selected to host federal government assisted “Investment in Digital and Creative Arts Enterprises (iDICE)” Program.
iDICE is a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative, aimed at promoting investments in the digital and creative industries.
It is part of Nigeria’s efforts to build back better, greener and more inclusively, thereby creating more sustainable jobs for its youthful population.
Salem University was selected as a host institution, for its track record in entrepreneural and skills acquisition programs.
The university which was selected on merit, is the only university in the North Central, to benefit from the gesture.
A consortium of international financial bodies, led by the Bank of Industry (BOI) on behalf of the federal government, is taking advantage of the university’s serene learning environment, which already operates an entrepreneurship center, Mass communication and a College of Communication and Information Technology.
The lead financier is the African Development Bank (AfDB), with Agence Franchise Developement (AFD) and Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), supporting.
The $617.7 program targets Nigerians of the age of 15 to 35 years, who are involved in innovative, early-stage technology-enabled start-ups, small and medium-size enterprises.
A visiting team, on behalf of the financiers, were at the university recently to put final touches to the process of implementation, of the program.
The university team was led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Sunday Okpanachi, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Johnson Alewo Akuboh.
The leader of the Program Implementation Unit (PIU) is professor Emmanuel Isah Momoh of the Department of Mass Communication.
