LG POLLS: KOGI ADC URGES KOGI EAST STAKEHOLDERS TO STAY FOCUSED
The state chairman of African Democratic Congress {ADC) in Kogi State, Hon Sunday Maiyaki has appealed to the officials, stakeholders and members of the party in Kogi East to stay focused, as preparations for local government elections gear up
He made the appeal at Anyigba, on Monday while presenting the party’s nomination forms to the candidates of the party, for both chairmanship and councillorship elections, in the eastern senatorial district.
According to the chairman, ADC as a party has become a nightmare to the coalition of some confused politicians in the state, because they choose to join the party through the back door, instead of focusing on how to make the party formidable
Such people he pointed out,, “want to use our party for nefarious activities and expect us to watch them get away with it.”
The party chairman said that the African Democratic Congress was nurtured by just an individual strength from 2017 to date, and some people who can’t even build their homes wanted to destabilise the party through selfish activities that is likely to undermine the survival of democratic institutions in the country.
The people in the coalition he maintained are so embittered with almost everything in the country, especially the government at the centre, and are doing everything to create confusion using our party as an umbrella for their negative actions.
Hon. Maiyaki further cautioned the people against bandwagon effect, because , according to him, it was the same scenario they created in 2014 that led to the near collapsed of the country.
“Now that another leader is making efforts to salvage the country, they are gathering again to truncate the process that would lead to the nation’s rebirth.
He assured that the party was not at crossroads as being erroneously paraded by nay sayers.
Also speaking, at the meeting, the secretary of the party in the state, Hon. Mamman Akpena warned against unnecessary controversies among party members, adding that, one cannot claim to be the owner of a house he has not contributed in building.
He clarified that there is only one national leader of the party, in the person of Elder Leke Abejide Joseph.
“Our party and our principal are unshakeable, no matter what transpires. Our party will spring surprises in the forthcoming local Council elections,” he pointed out.
Some party leaders present at the meeting appealed to the party to make available some working tools that would enhance the performance of the party at the grassroots levels in the state.
Highlight of the programme was presentations of party’s forms to the candidates and party stakeholders in the nine local areas of East Senatorial District.
