FAROUK HAS NEVER VISITED DANGOTE REFINERY SINCE IT STARTED OPERATION LAST YEAR – INSIDER
Kevin Emmanuel, a petroleum economist, has asserted that Farouk Ahmed, the CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has not visited the Dangote Refinery since it began operations last year.
In a Wednesday interview with Arise News Television, Emmanuel recalled that when Aliko Dangote received a license to run the refinery, Ahmed quickly made what he described as an erroneous statement, claiming that the refinery was producing diesel with a sulfur content of 500 ppm.
He stated, “When the license was granted to Dangote last year, Farouk hastily announced that the refinery was producing diesel with 500 ppm sulfur, which was incorrect. The Dangote Refinery has one of the most sophisticated laboratories for testing various parameters, including distillation, sulfur levels, motor octane number, flash point, and cloud point. Yet, as the executive chief, he hasn’t visited the facility since it began operations last year.”
Emmanuel further claimed that Ahmed, who he contends has not visited the Dangote Refinery, promptly traveled to the Warri Refinery to back the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC) statement that it was operational in December of last year, which he criticized as false.
He remarked, “When the NNPC claimed that the Warri Refinery was operational in December, he went there, held up a bottle, and declared it was functioning, while in fact, the NNPC misled Nigerians and the President, as those government-owned refineries are actually out of service.
