ABEJIDE TO RELEASE N710M TO FUND COMMUNITY PROJECTS
The National leader of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Right Hon Leke Abejide has extended palliative grants to 71 communities in his federal constituency.
He made the announcement at the flag off of his annual Christmas gift to the people of Western senatorial district in his country home Alu in his Christmas message.
Elder Abejide, who flagged off the distribution of food items and cash gifts, disclosed that he had studied the pattern of community development associations, whose requests could be better addressed through revolving grant.
He appealed to both public and private spirited individuals to give to the people, in order to encourage speedy work on projects for every community.
As from next year, a N10 million grant will be released into all 71 communities’ accounts, so that projects designed for implementation are not stalled.
“I have observed that virtually all the community development associations wanted me to be in their midsts at the end of every year which is not possible,” he said.
but our funding most of the key developmental projects would bring succour to the areas.
He pointed out, “We have already started with five million naira for all the 71 communities. By next year, April, another five million naira would be disbursed to them bringing the total money to 710 million naira.”
“We are hoping to transform our various communities into growing communities where basic things of life won’t pose any challenges anymore,” he stressed.
On the political front, he assured the people that the party would field candidates in all the electives offices except for the presidency.
The highlight of the programme was the distribution of Christmas gifts, food items and cash to support groups from across the western senatorial districts.
