KOGI ADC CHAIRMAN URGES YOUTHS TO SHUN “USE-AND-DUMP” POLITICIANS
Youths in Kogi State have been charged to be wary of politicians, who pretend to love them, but do not care about their welfare and future.
African Democratic Congress (ADC), chairman for Kogi State, Hon Sunday Maiyaki made the remark while addressing a cross-section of party members during the screening of candidates for local government election in Lokoja.
According to the state chairman of the party, any time there is an election, some politicians would come back home and pretend to be good, play over the intelligence of the youths, especially, in order to seek their support.
“Youths are the leaders of tomorrow, are some of the comments they make in order to receive the people”, he said.
He further pointed out, that “in the same vein, they put obstacles, thorns in ways of Youths to block them from gaining access to lucrative jobs and other ventures that could turn their lives around.”
Hon. Maiyaki reiterated the commitment of ADC towards the uplifting of the status of youths in the state, by creating political platforms for them to aspire to any political office they desire.
He said that the free donations of nomination forms to those desirous of contesting election was a demonstration of the party and the national leader to position the youths for leadership positions in the country.
He explained that such gesture was uncommon in the current political dispensation in the state and the country.
Hon Maiyaki urged the youth to raise awareness about issues that affect their well-being and society..
The party chairman urged the youths to aim for higher dreams, adding that they should not be treated like servants in their own country.
He further encouraged them to believe in their abilities and work towards achieving the highest standards of service, especially at the grassroots.
Highlight of the occasion was the signing of the state electoral commission forms and retrieval of same from the party candidates.
