Pro-Wike members in dilemma as Gov. Fubara takes over control of PDP in Rivers State
In a dramatic shift of power within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, pro-Wike executives have voiced strong opposition after Governor Siminalayi Fubara took control of the party’s structure. This comes after a court ruling on January 13, 2025, which granted Fubara’s faction a significant legal victory.
Speaking on the issue, the State Chairman of the PDP in Rivers, who chose to remain unnamed, addressed the situation, emphasizing that neither he nor his Executive Secretary (ESO) were involved in the lawsuit that led to the court’s decision.
He remarked, “I want you to just take one minute and thank God for this party,” acknowledging the judgment, while distancing himself and his faction from the legal proceedings. He further clarified, “We were not party to that suit; we were not sued.”
The chairman expressed concerns about the nature of the ruling, stating that those who represented the opposing faction in the case were unknown to him. He noted that the judgment, from his understanding, lacked clarity on several legal aspects and questioned its legitimacy, particularly regarding the role of the party’s legal advisor in executing the judgment.
“The legal advisor will speak on that if that judgment was executed,” he added, indicating uncertainty about the immediate legal ramifications.
