NEW ONU EGUME/OKURA DISTRICT HEAD CORONATED
The new Onu Egume/Okura District Head, HRH Simon Ochimana has been coronated.
The coronation was performed by the Ata Igala, His Royal Majesty, Matthew Opaluwa in Idah, over the weekend.
The ceremony was witnessed by key community leaders, the family of the new chief and members of the community, who have yearned and persevered to have a new Onu, in the last three.
Last week, after a thorough and meticulous search, the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo duly approved the appointment of Simon Ochimana of the Edogbanya ruling house, as ONU EGUME/OKURA DISTRICT HEAD.
The long and painstaking process followed the approval by the Kingmakers, Dekina Council of Chiefs, Igala Council of Chief and finally the state government.
Meanwhile, Mediaagenda.ng which is monitoring development in the community, reports that the community has been calm, since the announcement and coronation of the new Onu.
Egume Ome Development Union (EODU), the umbrella body of all sons and daughters of Egume has congratulated the new chief, calling for peace and understanding.
In a statement issued by the union, signed by the President, Mr. Sunday Maji and Secretary, Elder Gabriel Edicha, the union was “thrilled to joyfully congratulate and celebrate the Onu Egume/Okura District Head.”
It noted that “the development symbolizes a new era of unity, peace, and positive progress, in the community.”
The EODU called on the contenders for the plum royal throne, who may have lost out to show sportsmanship and understanding, by sheathing their swords, in the interest of peace and development of the community.
“Let us all rally behind our new king, supporting him as we move forward together in harmony,” the union appealed.
Onu Egume Stool is a First Stool in Kogi State. The Onu is also the District Head of Okura District in Dekina Local Government.
