All is set for 7th Salem University Lokoja, Convocation public lecture
Salem University Lokoja Convocation starts in earnest on 20 November, when Professor of pharmaceutics, John Alfa takes the center stage with a public lecture.
The lecture, is titled “Access to Health care in Nigeria: Contemporary Realities and Pathways to Universal Health Coverage.”
The event will take place at the Convocation Arena of the university, at 12 noon.
Professor John Alfa is a notable Nigerian professor of pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical Technology.
He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Bingham University in Nigeria.
He was the pioneer Director of Pharmaceutical Services at the National Assembly Medical Center in Nigeria from 1992 to 2018.
He was the first Deputy President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) from 2003-2006.
He served on the governing boards of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, and the Federal Psychiatric hospital, Kaduna.
He received the National Productivity Merit Award (NPMA) from former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
His research work, particularly in pharmaceutics and drug development, is documented on various professional platforms.
Professor Alfa is a qualified Pharmacist with manifold scholarly publications in the field of Pharmacy and has bagged many prestigious awards as well as degrees
21 November, 2025, is the main event, with “The Release of Change Agents,,” for the award of Certificates, Diplomas, First and Higher degrees and presentation of prizes.
The event will hold at Convocation Arena, Salem University, starting at 10.am.
The third day, 23 November will be Convocation Thanksgiving, to be held at Chapel of Peace, Salem University, Lokoja, at 8 am.
Salem University, is famous for “raising global leaders,” who ultimately become “change agents” wherever they find themselves after graduation.
The Convocation is hosted by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Johnson Alewo Akuboh.
