Super Eagles, the best AFCON team – Yaya You’re
Former Ivory Coast international Yaya Touré has described Nigeria’s Super Eagles as the most impressive team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Super Eagles finished third in the tournament after defeating Egypt in a penalty shootout in the third-place play-off.
Under coach Eric Chelle, Nigeria won six of their seven matches, overcoming Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Mozambique, Algeria and Egypt, before narrowly losing to hosts Morocco in the semi-finals on penalties.
Speaking to Bleacher Report Football, Toure praised Nigeria’s attacking style.
“I was really impressed with Nigeria. They play good football. They’ve been scoring more goals than usual,” he said.
He added: “It feels like a full attack, playing really good football. The thing that impressed me the most was Nigeria — the way they played and the goals they scored. The players won because they had the two top African players on their team. They played really good games but were knocked out by Morocco in the semi-finals.”
