Muri asks for accountability in Gov. Ododo’s alleged fraud in Kogi East electricity project
“I have patiently followed the trending discussions, analyses, and counter-opinions circulating across various social media platforms concerning a video extract in which the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, made a comment regarding the electrification of Kogi East.
While I ordinarily refrain from joining social media controversies, the gravity of this matter, its political implications, and most importantly, its significance to the people of Kogi East, compel me to lend my voice to this conversation in the interest of truth, responsibility, and public accountability.
I have also taken note of the public clarification issued by the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, H.E Chief Edward David Onoja, an Igala son and a senior figure of the previous administration. His intervention makes it even more necessary for the Kogi State Government to rise above speculation and address the people with documented facts.
It is therefore necessary that I respectfully pose the following critical questions to Governor Usman Ododo:
- Can you clarify when you first became aware of the alleged diversion of funds earmarked for the Kogi East electrification project: was it before your inauguration as Governor, during the administration in which you served, or afterward?
- If such credible evidence truly exists, why has no former official of the Yahaya Bello administration been arrested, investigated, prosecuted, or formally charged in connection with this matter?
- Have you officially reported this alleged diversion to the appropriate anti-corruption agencies, such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission or the ICPC, or is this claim being raised without any formal institutional follow-up?
Governance must not be driven by viral moments. It must be driven by records, responsibility, and respect for the intelligence of the people.
It is on this basis that I urge you to address this matter through an immediate forensic audit, strict adherence to due process, and a transparent recovery framework. If there are facts, let them be published. If there are documents, let them be presented. If there are culprits, let them be prosecuted.
The people of Kogi East deserve not only electricity, but clarity. They deserve not speculation, but evidence. They deserve leadership that acts on facts, not narratives.
This matter must be addressed with openness, transparency, and documented truth.”
